Significant decrease in Poland's apple imports in 2nd half of 2012/13
High apple production in Poland enabled the country to significantly reduce apple imports in the second half of the season 2012/13.
According to Central Statistical Office of Poland, in January-June 2013, the country imported 7,000 tons of apples, a third of imports in the same period of the previous season. For comparison, Polish importers purchased 22,000 tons of apples in the second half of the season 2011/12.
Germany was the largest exporter of apples to Poland. Italy and Chile were top exporters too.
