Italy: record high exports of grapes to Russia in September
According to Federal State Statistics Service of Russia, the country imported 2,600 tons of Italian grapes in September 2013, 50% higher year-on-year and the highest result over the past 5 seasons. For comparison, Italy shipped just 1,700 tons of grapes to the Russian Federation in September 2012.
Italy's cumulative exports to Russia over the period from July to September 2013 reached 5,000 tons, an increase of 14% year-on-year.
We would remind you that Russia imported 16,000 tons of Italian grapes in the season 2012/13, and Italy ranked eighth among grape exporters to the Russian Federation.
