Record low pear imports in Russia
The Russian Federation has significantly reduced pear imports since the beginning of the current season, according to the official statistics.
In the period from July to September 2013, Russian importers purchased just 48,000 tons of pears, a decrease of 18% year-on-year and the lowest result over the past 5 seasons. For comparison, in the same period of the previous season, Russia's pear imports reached 59,000 tons.
We would remind you that Russia imported 364,000 tons in the season 2012/13, a decrease of 15% from the previous season. Argentina, the Netherlands and Belgium were the largest suppliers.
