Argentina reduces pear exports to Russia
According to Federal State Statistics Service of Russia, the country reduced imports of Argentinean pears in the beginning of the current season. In the period from July to September 2013, Argentina exported 8,000 tons of pears to Russia, a decrease of 43% year-on-year.
We would remind you that the Russian Federation purchased 14,000 tons of pears from Argentina in July-September 2012, the highest result in this period over the past 5 seasons.
It should also be noted that Argentina traditionally starts active exports of pears to Russia in February and is the largest exporter of this fruit to the Russian Federation. In the season 2012/13, Russian importers purchased 108,000 tons of Argentinean pears. In such a way, Argentina accounted for the share of 30% in Russia's total pear imports.
