Record low prices of apples in Ukraine

Fruit-Inform analysts say of apple prices to have reached the lowest levels since 2009 in Ukraine.

For the present, prices of apples average UAH 3.50/kg (EUR 0.33/kg) in the country. We would remind you that prices were 22% higher in November 2012 and 13% higher in the same period of 2011.

Ukrainian apple growers say of stagnating market in the country. The demand for produce is extremely low both in the domestic market and importing countries. Ukrainian exporters are unsatisfied with the quality of offered apples.

It should also be noted that the same situation is observed in other Eastern European countries. In particular, apple prices in Russia and Moldova have already reached last year's levels. Polish apple growers offer their produce at prices 20% lower than in November 2012.

More detailed information about the Eastern European apple market developments and outlook will be presented at the 10th Anniversary International Conference “Fruits & Vegetables of Ukraine-2013”, November 26-28, 2013, International Exhibition Center, Kiev, Ukraine.
