Ukraine: apple prices below last year's levels
Prices of fresh apples in Ukraine have fallen below last year's levels.
For the present, Ukrainian growers are ready to ship apples at UAH 0.18-0.50 euro/kg, while in the mid-November 2012 apple prices were not lower than 0.27 euro/kg.
Fall in prices is connected with extremely low demand for apples in the country. The market participants say of apple sales rates remaining rather weak for several weeks in a row.
Furthermore, low-quality apples currently account for the largest share in the market, while growers with high-quality produce prefer to keep it in storage and plan to start sales only in early December.
More detailed information about the Eastern European fruit and vegetable market developments and outlook will be presented at the 10th Anniversary International Conference “Fruits & Vegetables of Ukraine-2013”, November 26-28, 2013, International Exhibition Center, Kiev, Ukraine.
