Ukraine: record low apple exports in October

Ukraine has significantly reduced apple exports in the current season, according to State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

Exports in October 2013 were the lowest in the past 5 years with the volumes standing at just 2,100 tons. Ukraine's apple exports in the same month of the previous year were 2.5 times of current volumes.

Cumulative exports of Ukrainian apples in the first 4 months of the season 2013/14 reached just 5,400 tons, less than a half of the export volumes in the same period of the previous season. For comparison, in July-October 2012 Ukrainian exporters shipped 12,000 tons of apples.

We would remind you that Ukraine exported 18,000 tons of apples in the season 2012/13 with the Russian Federation, Austria and Belarus being the largest target markets.

We would remind you that more information about current developments and future prospects in the Ukrainian and Russian fruit and vegetable markets is available for subscribers of Fruit-Inform Weekly service package.
