Low demand for Idared apples in Poland
For the present, Polish apples are shipped for export in moderate amounts, according to the market participants.
Exporters show especial interest in Gala and Golden Delicious varieties. Red apples are purchased less actively. Champion, Jonagold (and its clones), Ligol and Elisa varieties are the most popular among red apples. Idared apples are in lower demand.
For the present, exporters purchase red apples from cold storage at 0.21-0.26 euro/kg (size 70+) and from ordinary storage facilities at 0.16-0.19 euro/kg (size 65+) and 0.17-0.20 euro/kg (size 70+).
Maximum purchase prices of Idared apples from cold storage reach 0.21 euro/kg, from ordinary storage facilities – 0.19 euro/kg. Furthermore, growers face problems with sales even at those prices.
