Strong competition in Russian apple market
Russian growers still do not revise their apple prices, which vary between 0.33-0.54 euro/kg. Such price levels are similar to prices fixed in early December 2012.
Stable prices are connected with rather low demand for apples in Russia and steady shipments of produce from Moldova, Poland and Serbia, which intensify competition in the Russian market. It is serious competition between domestic and imported apples that still force Russian farmers to maintain prices at relatively low levels.
