Ukraine loses ground in Russian apple market

Russia purchased record low 1,800 tons of Ukrainian apples in November 2013, according to the official statistics. Those import volumes are 14% lower compared with October 2013 and 25% lower than had been registered in November 2012.

Russia's cumulative imports of Ukrainian apples over the first 5 months of the season 2013/14 totaled 7,000 tons, a half of the import volumes a year ago. Nevertheless, with the share of 92%, the Russian Federation still remains the largest export market for Ukrainian apple suppliers.
