Armenia’s fruit production totals 331,700 tons this year

Armenia's fruit production amounted to 336,800 tons this year against 331,700 tons in 2012, Mr. Samvel Galstyan, Deputy Agriculture Minister of Armenia, said Tuesday at a news conference.

“This growth was registered mainly thanks to higher apricot production, which had totaled 86,400 tons,” he said.

According to him, this year's apricot production grew by 12,000 tons year-on-year.

Mr. Galstyan also said that production of almost all fruits (except peaches) was larger in 2013 compared with 2012.

“In 2012, the country's peach production amounted to 63,000 tons, while this year only 60,700 tons were harvested,” he said.
