Locusts attack Kherson Oblast
According to the news programme "Podrobnosti" on the national TV channel, regional authorities of Kherson Oblast (south of Ukraine) have announced an emergency situation of regional level because of revealed mass-scale distribution nidi of locusts.
"Because of appearance of the locusts on the territory of the Oblast, there is a threat of mass-scale distribution of this dangerous crop pest", the order of the regional administration reads.
According to the authorities, there are currently 141,890 hectares of agricultural land affected by the pest in central part of the Oblast.
