Poland: onion prices almost double year-on-year
According to Fresh-Market, the price situation in the Polish onion market is stable now.
Prices remain stably high thanks to steady demand for produce. More active imports sometimes led to a decrease in prices in some regions, but had no special impact on the overall situation.
For the present, prices vary between 0.20-0.25 euro/kg with most active sales registered at 0.21-0.24 euro/kg.
Current price levels are averagely 80% higher compared with the same period of the previous year. We would remind you that onions were offered at 0.11-0.15 euro/kg in Poland in the second half of January 2013.
More detailed information about the current state and future developments in the Eastern European market for onions, other vegetables and potatoes will be presented at the 6th International Conference “Potatoes & Vegetables of Ukraine-2014”, is to be held on February 20, 2014, President Hotel, Kiev, Ukraine.
