Onion prices down in Lviv, Ukraine

Fruit-Inform price monitoring shows a decrease in onion prices at Shuvar Wholesale Market, Lviv, western region of Ukraine.

For the present, traders offer onions at 0.43-0.45 euro/kg, a decrease of 10% week-on-week. For comparison, last week onions were sold at 0.48-0.50 euro/kg.

Lower prices are connected with availability of large volumes of contraband onions from Poland in Lviv.

At the same time, current prices are 4 times of those registered a year before, when they averaged 0.11 euro/kg.

We would remind you that more detailed information about the current state and future developments in the Ukrainian market for onions, other vegetables and potatoes will be presented at the 6th International Conference “Potatoes & Vegetables of Ukraine-2014”, which will be held on February 20, 2014, President Hotel, Kiev, Ukraine.
