Ukrainian fresh produce price index up 6.6%
Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index grew by 6.6% last week (February 1th to 7th). In such a way, the price index has been increasing in Ukraine for the third week in a row.
“All fresh produce categories (except greenhouse vegetables) became more expensive last week”, says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. “Better weather conditions did not lead to a decrease in prices due to falling exchange rate of Ukrainian hryvnia, which affects prices of imported produce”.
Imported fruits became 9.1% more expensive last week. Apple prices were stable, as the share of imported apples is still insignificant in the market, while domestic stocks are well satisfying the market demand.
Prices of traditional vegetables and potatoes went up. White cabbage and carrots became 17.5% more expensive. Prices of onions and table beets also significantly grew. Furthermore, an increase in prices of imported greenhouse vegetables is expected in Ukraine next week.
