Italy improves its position in Russian grape market
Italy keeps on expanding its presence in the Russian grape market. In particular, Russian importers purchased 17,000 tons of Italian grapes in July-December 2013, an increase of 13% year-on-year and the highest volume over the past 5 years. In such a way, Italy became the fourth largest exporter of grapes to the Russian Federation.
We would remind you that in the previous season Italy ranked only eighth with the export volumes standing at 16,000 tons, an increase of 60% compared with the season 2011/12.
According to FAOSTAT, Italy is the third largest producer of grapes in the world with only China and the USA producing more.
