Russia: record low imports of raisins in January
Russia's imports of raisins were record low in January 2014, according to Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation.
The import volumes amounted to 2,500 tons, half of imports in the same month of 2013. Russia's cumulative imports over the first 7 months of the season 2013/14 also fell by 50% year-on-year and totaled just 18,000 tons.
A decrease in total imports is connected with significantly lower shipments of raisins from Iran. Iran's raisin exports to Russia in July 2013 – January 2014 were almost 3.5 times as low as registered in the same period of the previous season.
