Poland: active competition between Dutch and domestic carrots
The Polish market operators have recently said of large shipments of Dutch carrots arriving in the country.
Prices of domestic carrots started growing in the second half of January 2014 thanks to higher demand for Polish carrots in Russia. Prices of high-quality carrots have reached 0.18-0.20 euro/kg.
However, prices did not exceed those levels due to arrival of Dutch carrots in Poland at prices varying between 0.17-0.19 euro/kg.
In view of more active competition in the Polish carrot market, some domestic growers have already had to reduce their prices.
