Low prices of iceberg lettuce in Poland
The Polish market participants say of low prices of imported iceberg lettuce in the country.
Prices of iceberg lettuce of Spanish origin had been gradually going down since the mid-December 2013, and negative price performance intensified in February.
Average wholesale prices have decreased from 0.77 euro per head to 0.65 euro per head over a month and now vary between 0.59-0.71 euro per head.
However, a decrease in prices is traditionally observed during this period. A gradual increase in average daily temperature and higher number of sunny days lead to higher supply of iceberg lettuce in Spain and growth in Spanish exports to Poland.
