Poland: pear exports to Russia up

Poland has expanded its presence in the Russian pear market, according to the official statistics.

Russian importers purchased 29,000 tons of pears from Poland in July 2013 – January 2014, an increase of 6% compared with the first 7 months of the season 2012/13 and the highest result over the past 5 years.

In such a way, Poland was the second largest exporter of pears to the Russian Federation, while a year before the country had ranked just fourth. Belgium's exports in July 2013 – January 2014 were 100 tons lower.
