Poland: significant decrease in prices of Gala apples compared with last week
Prices of Gala apples have significantly gone down compared with the previous week in Poland.
In particular, on March 17th, Gala apples (size 65+) were offered at 0.29-0.36 euro/kg, a decrease of 20% compared with the previous week, when maximum prices had reached 0.45 euro/kg. At the same time, compared with the previous year, prices did not change.
A week-on-week decrease in prices is connected with rather moderate demand for produce with apple stocks being significantly higher year-on-year in the country.
We would remind you that Polish production of Gala apples totaled 270,000 tons in the season 2013/14, an increase of 8% year-on-year and the highest result over the past 10 years.
