Price collapse in Ukrainian fruit and vegetable market
Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index fell by 23.5% in the week from June 28th to July 4th having heralded the start of the new season.
«Against a background of improved weather conditions in Ukraine last week, the supply of early produce has sharply grown and immediately affected prices», says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. «The largest contribution to the price collapse was made by early potatoes and traditional vegetables, which became 33% and 27.2% less expensive, respectively.
Prices of greenhouse vegetables also fell by 19.6% last week. Nevertheless, fruit prices slightly went up due to positive price performance in the segments of apples and strawberries.
