Ukrainian pear growers satisfied with the season 2013/14

The Ukrainian pear growers are satisfied with the season 2013/14 despite pear prices being averagely 10% lower year-on-year.

The supply of pears grew compared with the previous season thanks to higher internal production.

Despite a decrease in areas under pear orchards, the Ukrainian pear production reached record high 170,000 tons thanks to an increase in pear yields.

The season 2013/14 was also characterized by lower imports. Due to the devaluation of the Ukrainian hryvnia, it was more difficult for imported produce to compete with domestic pears in the second half of the season.

We would remind you that more detailed information about the Ukrainian pear and apple sector developments and outlook will be presented at the 4th International Conference “Apple Business of Ukraine-2014”. The conference will be held on August 14-15, 2014, Feride Plaza, Vinnytsia, Ukraine. More detailed information about the event is available on the official web-site.
