Ukrainian farmers have to reduce potato prices in southern regions

According to Fruit-Inform, farmers from southern regions of Ukraine have to reduce potato prices.

Prices have gone down by 15% since the beginning of the week, and now sellers offer potatoes at UAH 1.50-2.00/kg (EUR 0.08-0.11/kg), depending on quality.

A decrease in prices is connected with abundant supply of potatoes in the market. The majority of wholesale companies have finished their storing campaign, therefore their demand has decreased. Furthermore, shipments to Crimea are complicated by introduction of customs clearance procedures. Prices are also under pressure of almost no shipments to Donetsk and Luhansk Regions due to the anti-terrorist operation there.

We would remind you that in the same period of the previous season potato prices were twice as high as now due to lower production of potatoes last year.
