Argentina reduces presence in Russian pear market
According to Fruit-Inform, Argentina has been reducing its pear exports to Russia since the beginning of this season.
Russia purchased just 5,000 tons of Argentinean pears in July-August 2014, a decrease of 60% year-on-year. A decrease in Russia's imports is connected with higher competition with Serbian, Macedonian and Turkish produce in the Russian market in that period.
At the same time, despite a decrease in exports, Argentina was still the largest exporter of pears to Russia with the share of about 36% in Russia's total imports.
