Ukraine quadruples apple exports to Russia in August

According to Fruit-Inform, Ukraine has quadrupled its apple exports to Russia in August 2014 compared with the same month of the previous year.

According to the official statistics, Ukraine's exports exceeded 3,000 tons, and Ukraine was the fourth largest supplier of apples to the Russian Federation after China, Serbia and Azerbaijan. We would remind you that Ukraine ranked just 7th in August 2013.

Russia's cumulative imports of Ukrainian apples in July-August 2014 totaled 3,500 tons, three and a half times as high as in the same period of the previous season.

A sharp increase in Ukaine's exports was registered thanks to Russia's ban on imports from the EU and Moldova, the countries, which had been the leaders in apple exports to Russia in the previous seasons.
