Ukraine: apple procurement campaign comes to an end
Ukrainian processors finished purchasing raw apples in this season, according to Fruit-Inform.
Processors faced no problems with completing the apple procurement plans this year thanks to large supply of apples for processing in the market. For the present, only some factories still purchase raw apples at UAH 0.70-1.50/kg (0.03-0.05/kg).
It should be noted that processors have sharply reduced their apple procurement plans compared with 2013 due to large transit stocks of apple juice concentrate (AJC) and end juices both in their own storehouses and the EU, traditionally major buyer of Ukrainian AJC. Procurement plans were also under pressure of the ban on imports of Ukrainian juices introduced in Russia in July 2014. We would remind you that Russia accounted for about 30% of Ukraine's annual AJC exports.
More detailed information about the Ukrainian market for processed fruits and vegetables will be presented at the 11th International Conference «Fruits & Vegetables of Ukraine-2014», which is going to be held on December 8-9 in Kiev. The conference will be followed by the 4th International Trade Forum with about 30 Ukrainian retail chains and importers ready to conduct negotiations with fruit and vegetable suppliers on December 10.
