Ukraine: white cabbage prices double in Kherson Region since beginning of this week
According to Fruit-Inform daily price monitoring, white cabbage prices have almost doubled at Kopani Wholesale Market, Kherson Region, Ukraine, since the beginning of this week.
For the present, sellers are ready to ship white cabbages averagely at UAH 2.50/kg (EUR 0.13/kg), while in the end of the previous week prices often went down to UAH 1/kg (EUR 0.05/kg). It should also be noted that white cabbage prices have grown by 70% year-on-year at Kopani Wholesale Market.
An increase in prices is connected with retail chains' higher interest in white cabbages and a simultaneous decrease in their supply due to frosts.
We would remind you that growers' prices for white cabbages have also been growing. Farmers have averagely raised their prices by 35% over the past week.
More detailed information about the Ukrainian fruit and vegetable market developments and outlook will be presented at the 11th International Conference «Fruits & Vegetables of Ukraine-2014», which is going to be held on December 8-9 in Kiev. The conference will be followed by the 4th International Trade Forum with about 30 Ukrainian retail chains and importers ready to conduct negotiations with fruit and vegetable suppliers on December 10.
