Ukraine: apple imports in October 2014 18 times as high as in same month of 2013
Despite record high apple production in Ukraine this year, imports in October 2014 were the highest over the past 5 years and 18 times as high as registered in the same month of the previous year.
According to the official statistics, Ukraine's imports of apples totaled 3,000 tons against just 163 tons a year before.
Poland and Moldova were the largest suppliers of apples to Ukraine in October 2014 with the shares of 54% and 46%, respectively.
Ukraine's cumulative imports of apples in the first 4 months of the season 2014/15 totaled 6,500 tons, 6.5 times as high as registered in the same period of the previous season.
