Rosselkhoznadzor to think of banning crop imports from Morocco
Russia's veterinary and phytosanitary watchdog (Rosselkhoznadzor) leaves open the possibility to ban crop imports from Morocco in view of multiple cases of detection of quarantine objects in those shipments reported by Rosselkhoznadzor officers.
«Rosselkhoznadzor has expressed its concern about multiple cases of detection of quarantine objects in Morrocan products shipped to Russia. This, in Rosselkhoznadzor officers' opinion, may incur negative consequences for Moroccan growers up to introduction of a ban on imports of all crop products from that country», the statement says.
To avoid the ban, Rosselkhoznadzor suggested that small Moroccan suppliers of crop products should be united into groups. «In this case, if Rosselkhoznadzor regularly detects unsafe products, measures will not be taken toward the whole country, but certain companies», the statement explains.
