Georgia: wine exports reach 10-year high in 2014

Georgia's wine exports reached 10-year high in 2014 and totaled 59 mln bottles, according to National Wine Agency of Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia.

The second largest export result was registered in 2005 with the export volumes standing at 57 mln bottles, 88% of which were exported to the Russian Federation. In 2014 Russia's share stood at 64%.

In addition to Russia, Georgian wines were exported to the EU countries, China and Japan.

We would remind you that Georgia was unable to ship wines to Russia in 2007-2012 due to the import ban introduced by that country. Exports recommenced in June 2013, and Russia again became the leader in imports of Georgian wines in 2014.
