Azerbaijan enters group of top three apple exporters to Russia

According to the official statistics, Azerbaijan has exported 33,000 tons of apples to Russia in the first 5 months of the season 2014/15 and become the third after Serbia and China largest exporter of those fruits to the Russian market.

It should be noted that in the previous years main imports were registered from Poland and Moldova, and Azerbaijan's exports were significantly lower. However, thanks to the ban on imports introduced by Russia, Azerbaijan managed to enter the group of top three apple exporters to the Russian Federation.

The sector experts believe that Azerbaijan stands a good chance to expand its presence in the Russian market in the current season if Russia does not lift the ban on foodstuffs imports from the EU countries and Moldova.
