Further increase in Ukrainian fresh produce price index in January
Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index went up by 10.4% in the period from December 26th to January 16th. As a result, the price index has grown by 64.8% since November.
«Thanks to exports of traditional vegetables, there was no traditional decrease in the demand and prices in the first two weeks of January after a slight increase in prices before the New Year holidays», says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform.
The sharpest increase in prices was registered in the segment of traditional vegetables: up by 29.6%. Potatoes have become 12.5% more expensive, prices of greenhouse vegetables have grown by 10.3%, and fruit prices have gone up by 6.9% with none of fresh produce categories to have become less expensive during the reporting period.
A further increase in prices of domestic apples should also be note. However, they are still competitive in the Ukrainian market thanks to the devaluation of the Ukrainian hryvnia.
