Russia: demand for traditional vegetables and potatoes down
The Russian market participants say of a significant decrease in the trading activity in the market for potatoes and traditional vegetables (onions, white cabbage, carrots, table beets), according to Fruit-Inform.
The supply of those products has considerably gone up last week, as farmers have increased sales in the hope of further growth in prices and taking into account the facts of a decrease in the demand and worsening quality of stocks.
An increase in the supply has negatively affected white cabbage and onion prices, and farmers had to reduce them despite almost daily price growth in the first half of February. Meanwhile, the potato market is also characterized by negative price trend. Only prices of carrots and table beets are relatively stable.
At the same time, farms with still available stocks of high-quality produce do not hurry with sales, as they are sure of an increase in the demand before the Great Lent.
More detailed information about the trends observed in the Eastern European market for potatoes and traditional vegetables (onions, white cabbage, carrots, table beets) will be presented at the 7th International Conference «Potatoes & Vegetables of Ukraine-2015» to be held on February 27, 2015, Kiev, Ukraine.
