Season of early vegetables and potatoes to start later in Ukraine and Crimea
According to Fruit-Inform, the season of early vegetables and potatoes will start at least two weeks later than usual in Crimea and mainland Ukraine.
Farmers connect later start with rainy and cold spring: due to pouring rains, they had to start their field works later; in addition, cold weather has slowed down ripening.
As a result, growers of early potatoes and field-grown vegetables plan to enter the market at least in the second half of May, and, according to farmers' expectations, the season of early onions will start no earlier than in early June.
At the same time, it should be noted that growers are not concerned about late start of their campaign. According to them, such a situation will enable to lower competition with last year's produce in the market and start the season with higher prices.
