Cherry sales start at Ukrainian wholesale markets

Sellers from the majority of Ukrainian wholesale markets report of the start of cherry sales, according to Fruit-Inform.

Sweet cherry prices now vary between UAH 20-32/kg (EUR 0.81-1.29/kg) at Shuvar Wholesale Market, Lviv, an increase of 70% year-on-year.

Sellers at Kopani Wholesale Market, Kherson Oblast, offer cherries at UAH 20-25/kg (EUR 0.81-1.01/kg), averagely a third higher than in the end of spring 2014.

The highest prices are now quoted at Ozerka Wholesale Market, Dnipropetrovsk: UAH 60/kg (EUR 2.42/kg), three times as high as in the same period of the previous season.

For the present, sweet cherries are shipped in small quantities, and an increase in supply is expected next week resulting in a decline in prices.
