Poland: pear imports up by a third in Q1 2015
Poland has increased pear imports by 36% in the first three months of 2015.
The import volumes totaled record high 12,700 tons against just 9,400 tons in the same period of the previous year.
The Netherlands and Belgium were the traditional leaders in pear exports to Poland. Portugal was the third largest supplier.
Such a sharp rise in imports is connected with lower pear prices in the current year. For comparison, pear prices average 0.61 euro/kg in the current season against 0.75 euro/kg a year before.
