Season of domestic plums starts in Kiev, Ukraine
Kiev's Solychnyi Wholesale Market operators say of arrival of first volumes of domestic plums.
The season started with no delay compared with a year ago, while prices are 8-10% higher year-on-year and stand at least at UAH 19.50/kg (EUR 0.74/kg).
Plums are now sold mainly by small private farms, while large professional growers plan to start harvesting at least in the end of July.
We would remind you that the Ukrainian plum production fell by 10% to just 163,000 tons in 2014 due to lower areas and yields.
