Ukraine: apple imports reach record low in June
Ukraine's apple imports have reached 7-year low in June, according to the official statistics.
The import volumes totaled just 3,200 tons, a decrease of 44% year-on-year and 41% lower than average over the past 7 years.
Such a sharp fall in imports is connected with significantly lower consumption of imported apples in Ukraine in this season. In addition, the demand for apples went down in the Russian market, where they arrived through Crimea.
At the same time, it should be noted that Ukraine's cumulative imports of apples totaled 70,400 tons in the season 2014/15, twice as high as in the previous season. However, the market analysts estimate a large part of those apples to be re-exported to Russia through Crimea.
We would remind you that more detailed information about the Ukrainian apple market developments will be presented at the 5th International Conference «Apple Business of Ukraine-2015», which is going to take place on August 13-14, Kleopatra Hotel, Kamyanets-Podilskyi, Ukraine.
Conference draft program, participation conditions, advertising options, sponsorship offer and application form are available on the official web-site.
