Ukraine halves pear imports in 2014/15
Ukraine has halved pear imports in the season 2014/15, according to the official statistics.
The import volumes totaled just 2,600 tons against 5,200 tons in the season 2013/14. It should be noted that lower annual imports have been registered only once in the past 10 years: 1,200 tons in the season 2005/06.
Such a sharp fall in imports was observed in view of the devaluation of the Ukrainian hryvnia in December-February, when pear imports traditionally peaked in Ukraine.
