Moldova's fruit exports to Russia to reach 100,000 tons
Moldovan growers plan to ship about 100,000 tons of fruits (mainly apples) valued at $85 mln to Russia until the end of this year, according to Mr. Iurie Plopa, Representative of Nord Fruct Association of Moldovan Agricultural Producers.
He said that Moldovan growers had already started negotiating with Russian supermarket chains on supplies of fruits.
Nord Fruct expects Moldova to export about 100,000 tons of fruits valued at $85 mln to Russia in 2015 against 180,000-200,000 tons valued at $168 mln in 2013. It should be noted that Moldova's fruit exports to Russia totaled just 30,000 tons in 2014 due to the ban on imports introduced by the Russian Federation.
