Idared loses popularity among Ukrainian growers
Idared has been rapidly losing its popularity among Ukrainian growers. Such a conclusion was drawn by Fruit-Inform analysts when conducting the study «Apple Business in Ukraine, Russia & Kazakhstan — 2015: Present Situation and Prospects in Growing, Storage, Handling, Processing and Marketing».
Idared is now the fourth most popular apple variety in Ukraine against ranking the second in 2012. For comparison, now it accounts for the share of 11-12% in Ukrainian apple production against 18-19% three years ago.
Such a trend is connected with arrival of new varieties which resemble Idared but have better quality. In addition, the share of Jonagold variety has grown in the Ukrainian market since 2012.
