Ukrainian growers actively purchase early vegetable seeds
Ukrainian growers have been actively purchasing seeds of early vegetables since the middle of autumn, according to domestic seed companies.
Seed sellers say that farms usually start purchasing seeds only in January (most often on conditions of partial prepayment). This year farmers are ready to purchase necessary volumes of seeds on conditions of full prepayment trying to protect themselves against currency depreciation risks.
Such information is fully confirmed by Fruit-Inform survey of growers. Farmers indeed plan to expand areas under early vegetables. Furthermore, many growers focus not only on traditional vegetables, but also on seasonal ones such as tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, aubergines and bell peppers.
It should be noted that both small farms and large growers plan to expand areas under early vegetables in view of record high prices of late produce in this season. In addition, they see rather high potential in exports of Ukrainian seasonal vegetables to the EU.
More detailed information about the Ukrainian vegetable market developments and trends will be presented at the 12th International Conference «Fruits & Vegetables of Ukraine-2015. Reload» (December 1-3, Kiev, Ukraine).
The conference will also host the 5th International Trade Forum which involves more than 20 Ukrainian supermarket chains and leading importers ready to negotiate with fruit and vegetable suppliers.
