Georgia: Ministry of Agriculture worked out the strategy for agribusiness development in 2015-2020
The Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia worked out the overarching strategy for development of the agro-industrial complex of the country in 2015-2020, declared the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Georgia, Gocha Tsopurashvili during his report "Public policy for supporting the agricultural industry in Georgia. Conditions for doing agrarian business in Georgia" within frames of Georgia Agro Forum -2015 on November 19.
According to him, the main directions of such strategy include improving the efficiency of agriculture, institutional development of the agrarian sector (training and education of the staff), land reclamation improvement, regional and sectoral development, etc.
Also, the Ministry plans to monitor food safety, develop the veterinary and plant protection industries, and provide high-quality yield forecasting, he said.
G.Tsopurashvili stressed that since 2012, the volume of agricultural commodity exports from Georgia in monetary terms continues increasing, due to the observed increased supplies of nuts, wine, mineral water, etc. on foreign markets, including the EU.
