Rains bring down quality of grain in the south of Russia

According to APK-Inform experts, the rainy weather which has been dominating lately in the Southern Federal District of Russian Federation may put significant corrections into the quality of new crop grain, increasing the share of feed quality grain in the gross collection.

A degradation of quality in barley has been registered already now. There has also been noted a drop in the gluten content of wheat. According to experts, the largest part of the newly harvested wheat in Krasnodar Krai and Rostov Oblast is likely to be classified under 4th class (medium quality milling wheat) and feed wheat.

All these factors are making for cuts in the bidding prices.

However, the favourable weather of the last few days is allowing for a trouble-free progress in the harvesting works in the current period.
