Sudan: Russia expresses desire to import Sudanese vegetables and fruits
Russian Ministerial Committee has asked the Sudanese Center for Disinfection of Horticultural Exports to quantify the amounts of fruits and vegetables that can be exported to Russia during 2016-2017.
The Director of the Sudanese Center for Disinfection of Horticultural Exports Engineer Abdul-Rahman Mohamed Abdul-Majid said to SUNA that Russia has expressed its desire to import the largest possible amount of agricultural products and it was agreed to send a committee of the Russian agricultural quarantine to determine the specifications and standards by visiting the center as a packing station as well as farms for testing in order to be approved by the Russian authorities.
He pointed to the tribute of the Russian side with the wing of the center in the exhibition accompanying the meetings of the Sudanese-Russian Ministerial Committee, which is being held during these days, hoping that the Sudanese products to be shown in an exhibition in Russia.
He explained that the Russians have requested identification of the seasons and possible production quantities of onion, cabbage, potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, mango, grapefruit, cantaloupe and watermelon.
He stressed that if it was agreed to export large quantities of these products to Russia, the sector will rebound and open the door for producers of farmers, workers and companies of agricultural sector as well as the agricultural associations, packing companies and transport, pointing to the importance of state support for these strategic projects, explaining that the bigger the size of the export due to large-scale production, the less the product price internally, which is to be for the benefit of the Sudanese citizen.
