Turkish citrus production up in 2015
Turkish citrus production has increased by 14% in 2015, according to the official statistics, despite frosts in April, which have not been registered in Turkey in that month over at least 50 past years.
An increase in total citrus production was fixed mainly thanks to mandarins and grapefruits. In 2015, Turkish mandarin production totaled 1.516 mln tons, an increase of 11% year-on-year, while grapefruit production grew by 9% and amounted to 250,000 tons.
Production of lemons also grew in Turkey: up by 4% to 750,000 tons. The lowest year-on-year increase was registered in the orange segment, where production totaled 1.817 mln tons (a rise of 2% compared with 2014).
