Exports of fruits and vegetables from Armenia grow by 66% in 2015
Exports of fruits and vegetables from Armenia as of December 28, 2015 stood at 76,000 metric tons, a 65.9% rise from the same time of 2014, agriculture minister Sergo Karapetyan said on Monday, summing up the outgoing year.
The minister said the bulk of exports went to the Eurasian Economic Union member countries. "In particular, 83.4% of exports went to Russia versus 46.2% in 2014,' said Karapetyan.
The minister also noted this year 4,000 tons of cucumbers and 2,600 tons of tomatoes grown in greenhouses were exported.
Earlier, the ministry of agriculture said fresh fruit and vegetables were exported from Armenia to Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Poland, the UAE, Kuwait and the Czech Republic.
