Prices of traditional vegetables in Crimea half as high as in mainland Ukraine
Prices of traditional vegetables in Crimea are currently significantly lower than in mainland Ukraine. According to Fruit-Inform, Crimean buyers now pay for traditional vegetables averagely 40% less than Ukrainian ones do.
Now Crimean farmers ship their white cabbage at RUB 17-25/kg (USD 0.17-0.26/kg), depending on variety and quality, while Ukrainian farms fix averagely 41% higher prices.
Onion prices vary between RUB 13-18/kg (USD 0.13-0.18/kg) in Crimea against USD 0.22-0.28/kg in Ukraine.
Red beets are 38-41% less expensive in Ukraine than in Crimea: Ukrainian growers ship their produce at UAH 4.50-6.00/kg (USD 0.17-0.22/kg), while Crimean farms offer their produce at RUB 10-14/kg (USD 0.10-0.14/kg).
The most significant difference is registered in the carrot segment. Now carrot prices vary between RUB 10-15/kg (USD 0.10-0.15/kg) in Crimea against reaching UAH 7-9/kg (USD 0.26-0.33/kg) in Ukraine.
The situation in the potato segment is an exception, as potato prices are similar in Ukraine and Crimea now.
