Kazakhstan: apple imports reach 5-year low
Kazakhstan has been reducing its apple imports since the beginning of the season 2015/16, according to Fruit-Inform, so that they have already reached 5-year low.
In particular, Kazakhstan has imported 64,000 tons of apples in July 2015 – March 2016, a decrease of 40% compared with the same period of the previous season, when imports totaled 105,000 tons.
Poland is still the leading apple exporter to Kazakhstan despite a year-on-year decrease of 27% in shipments. Kazakhstan purchased just 37,000 tons of Polish apples in July 2015 – March 2016, against 51,000 tons a season before.
China is the second largest exporter in this season with exports totaling 13,000 tons, an increase of 8% year-on-year.
Moldova ranks third thanks to exports to Kazakhstan amounting to 8,000 tons in July 2015 – March 2016, a decrease of 67% year-on-year.
